The Foundation’s mission is to strengthen the community by enhancing opportunities for:

• Accessibility to the Arts
Through offering financial support to non-profit organizations, we hope to make a direct impact on the lives of local individuals and families who live in our shared communities.

What We Do
Our Founder
The Founder of The Robert F. Stoico/FIRSTFED Charitable Foundation was Robert F. Stoico who also serves as Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer of the Foundation.
Prior to his retirement Mr. Stoico served for nearly 30 years as Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of FIRSTFED AMERICA BANCORP, INC. (FIRSTFED). FIRSTFED was a publicly traded company until it was merged in 2004. During his tenure as CEO, the company grew from a small federal savings and loan serving just the Greater Fall River, Massachusetts area, to a multi-billion dollar financial services company with over 40 locations and nearly 1000 employees, operating in all of the New England and Mid-Atlantic states.

The Robert F. Stoico / FIRSTFED Charitable Foundation supports non-profit organizations primarily in Southeastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Our mission is to strengthen the community by enhancing opportunities for Education, Job Development, Affordable Housing, Accessibility to Healthcare and the Arts. Through offering financial support, we hope to make a direct impact on the lives of local individuals, families and non-profits for the ultimate benefit of our community as a whole.

The Foundation does not generally support the following types of requests:
- Sports Programs, including golf tournaments
- Requests to fund a staff member’s salary
- Individual schools
- Organizations located outside of our geographic priority area
Lastly, The Foundation will not support any programs, organizations or institutions which in policy discriminates or whose interests are not in the best interest of the Foundation, its affiliates, employees or communities served.
